BB's Second Run In with the Law

Today on our drive back from VT we got a citation for 'failure to display front plates'. We've moved to attracting state troopers now! They said we could mail in a picture on the vette with the front plate on and they'd wave the ticket though :) Guess the cop took pity on the preggy driver...

Babys first Hokie game

We're at the game in charlotte! 4 mins left in fourth quarter, hope we win! Baby will be glad when the game is over, I think all the cheering has kept him awake the whole game. Its also super hot and humid out but fun :) Thanks to our gracious hosts in bburg that are making sure baby is well fed. Maybe we'll stop by the bookstore and get some hokie gear on our way home. Let's go hokies!!

The Magic Balloon

This balloon has stayed inflated for months! We had it at our party on memorial day when we announced that we were having a boy. I'm convinced that its a little sensor and that it will fall on the day the baby is going to be born :)

The baby shower was super fun! I've actually only been to about 1 baby shower in my life, so I didn't know what to expect. My mom and dad put a lot of work into planning and cleaning and I hope everyone had as much fun as I did. They made me eat baby food (banana flavored) and open gifts (heehee) and everyone guessed how round I was. Gosh I can't even begin to sum it up...I'm still exhausted! I've been running around all weekend and Dillon just left for VA Beach for the week for work. I'm going to head to bed and rest...

ps. The doctor said my glucose test went fine!! No worries!! I can eat cookies again! (in moderation, of course) Praise God!

Oh sweet glucose...

[This was written at 8am this morning] I'm at the diagnostic center doing round 2 of the glucose test. I haven't eaten since 10pm last night and I just downed 100grams of sugar water in 5 minutes. Now begins the mental battle of not feeling hungry or thinking that I feel nauseated. They'll be taking my blood four times in the next 3 hours, so Dillon and I are camping out here in the lab...They don't let you leave because some people get lightheaded and faint. I don't really feel like I could drive right now. Time to rest...

Baby Bussert's First Run in with the Law

Well, ok, it wasn't totally his fault...
My gas light came on this morning, but I decided I'd get gas on the way home since I could get discounted gas at BJs. So, on my way home, I made a few stops and then Mom and I went to Target and Homegoods. The Mini said it still had 20 miles to go and the little gauge arm wasn't quite at the bottom red line yet. So, after I secured some curtains and pillows for the nursery, I was driving to the gas station and ran out of gas RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE STATION. Well, more like 75 feet from the pump. I was blocking the road though so I turned on my flashers. Mom pulled up next to me and was like 'what are you doing?'....'I ran out of gas!' and we both burst into laughter because we are infamous for this great consequence of procrastination. She pulled over into a parking spot in her convertible and I instructed her to call Dillon because -oh yay- a cop had spotted me and the blue lights were racing in my rearview. He walked up to my window ( mom is laughing hysterically in the background), leans down and gives me a puzzled look. All I could say was, I ran out of gas on the way to the station. He laughed a little too but then asked 'who's your friend?' I told him it was my mom :)
The cop kindly pushed my car all the way down the lane and up a hill then grumbled when my mom was like 'she's pregnant and her dad's a cop! Don't worry she'll get in trouble.'
It was quite funny for a lot of reasons..
Earlier that day, dil told me not to be callin him during flag football if I ran out of gas, we just shared empty tank stories in small group on monday ( I think I have the most now), and my dad said he'd put me onder house arrest if I do any more stupid things.
What a night!

Calorie Tracking

This week I started counting calories....my doctor said I have to keep my sugar level regular, especially for 3 days before the second glucose test (Thursday) , so I'm on this schedule:
Breakfast - 400 calories
Snack - 200
Lunch - 400
Snack - 200
Dinner - 600
Snack - 200

Its kinda difficult to pace yourself, and find snacks that are filling and less than 200 calories! I think that anything that comes straight from the ground or a tree should be free calories...apples for example. Why are apples 75 calories?! I should be patted on the back for eating fruit :)

Here's what my tracking sheet looks like on fitday.com...
ps. Subway cookies are 210 calories each.

Nursery, Take One

Here's a first look at the nursery! We painted 4ft of the walls a deep blue and are in search of a good border to put around the room. I'm also not sold on the furniture arrangement, the twin bed doesn't give us much flexibility but I want to keep it in there. We built the crib and changing table (hand me downs from generous people) and have yet to decorate the walls. Stay tuned for more :)

Baby Hiccups!

Today I felt the first baby hiccups! I'd heard that I might feel it, but didn't really believe :) They were so cute and fast. I was in a meeting, so I had to act calm though. I wanted to announce it, but they would have been like "Ok crazy pregnant lady." And I was certain that the minute I told someone it would stop and then no one would believe me. It was less than a minute long...

Guess the baby was practicing his little breathing, except..with liquid. Cute.

Symptoms Update

So far, so good! I'm in the middle of the 7th month and I still feel relatively balanced, alert, hungry and not-miserable. The weather has been gorgeous too so I haven't had much swelling.

But, as one of my books says, the first trimester symptoms come back in the third! I should have treasured those months a little more, but I wasn't really showing and was still realizing that there is a baby growing inside me!

Now, the belly is obvious and the symptoms are slowly returning:
- Waking up in the night to eat
- Bloody noses
-Congestion and stuffiness
- Having to go to the bathroom more often
- Getting tired at 10pm instead of midnight :(

New Symptoms:
- Strangers making weird comments like "Is this your second child?" or "Oh you are gaining weight there missy" (nobody tries to touch my belly randomly though, so thats good)
- Slight aversion to sugary foods... we'll see what happens after the glucose tests
- Inability to fit in clothes comfortably
- Very hot at night, must have a fan blowing at all times!

How sweet it is!

Dillon and I just celebrated our 3rd wedding anniversary! We celebrated last week by staying at a bed n breakfast in blacksburg and got each other little gifts this week. Soon, we'll having little kids bday parties instead!
Dil gave me some chocolates but unfortunately this may be my last week to pig out on them! I don't think my glucose screening went well and my dr said I need some more testing. I will be very sad if I can't have anymore cookies!
Only 10 more weeks to go!

Custom Cookies

We found this really interesting cookie shop in blacksburg- kinda the same concept as cold stone- you pick your cookie dough and then your mixins and they bake it in 9 minutes! I got the chocolate cookie dough with peanut butter and white chocolate chips. Berto got oatmeal cookies with craisins and coconut, so theres lot of variety.
They were ok. Kinda doughy and not too mushy, but hey they were cookies!

Rotunda

Today, I went swimming/exercising at The Rotunda condos in Tysons. I'll spare you pictures of the belly in a two piece, but it was quite a sight. My friend showed me some water exercises and after 40 minutes I was famished and exhausted! I got home and Dil had started dinner. After I ate promptly passed out and now my body feels like I just ran a marathon. (ok I don't really know what a marathon feels like, but another analogy is I feel like I just spent all day walking around kings dominion in the hot summer sun)
I thought pool exercises would be easier on the body.
I also thought the name was appropriate... Mom calls her tubby rottweiler a rotunda sometimes because she is so round. A preggy rotunda swimming at the Rotunda...

Little Chunky Monkey

I think my face is getting bigger. You? I guess the 20 lbs I've gained has to go somewhere. It kinda makes me look more asian. This is one of our 6 pictures from Rachel's wedding. I can't wait until the professional ones come out! It was a gorgeous wedding and I am so happy for Rachel and Chris. YAY!
